Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous, metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade, regional metamorphism. It is the finest-grained foliated metamorphic rock. Wikipedia
Primary: quartz, muscovite/illite
Secondary: biotite, chlorite, hematite, pyrite Specific gravity: 2.7 – 2.8,2.9 hot rock cooking stones
Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is subjected to high pressure or heat. In its pure form, marble is a white stone with a crystalline and sugary appearance, consisting of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Usually, marble contains other minerals, including quartz, graphite, pyrite, and iron oxides. These minerals can give marble a pink, brown, gray, green, or variegated coloration. While true marble forms from limestone, there is also dolomitic marble, which forms when dolomite [CaMg(CO3)2] undergoes metamorphosis.
Our charcuterie pieces are not only beautiful but are unique and natural and
completely food safe.
Slate is a lovely way to display cheeses platters , hot or cold hors d’oeuvres,
fruits and desserts.
They can be even put in the fridge prior to serving to further retain the freshness of
your items on a warm day.
They are easy to maintain and clean. Just add a few drops of food grade mineral oil to
each piece prior to use to seal the slate.
Let the oil absorb into the slate overnight and wipe with a clean cloth . You should only
need to do this once or twice a year to maintain their natural beauty and have them looking great
for many years to come.
Special rubber feet will protect charcuterie pieces from scratching tables or countertops.
Remember that slate is a natural stone and subject to various differences in thickness,
size, color,composition and weight.
Always handle with care when washing and storing them. Do not use as a cutting
board.
Charcuterie pieces are not recommended for use in ovens or microwaves. Wash by
hand with a mild detergent or simply wipe with a damp cloth.

Our cooking stones best usage process is to place stones on cold heating area / BBQ and let Stones heat up as the BBQ heats up.... If cooking Pizzas place cold Stones on a cold BBQ with no food on the Stone. Close the lid on the BBQ and once the BBQ has achieved 600+ degrees place the Pizza or food item on the Stone and let cook with the BBQ lid closed to maintain the heat. Standard cooking time for a Pizza on the Stone at 600 Degrees is approx 4 minutes +- 1 minute.
Once food items are taken off the stones let stone cool down on BBQ slowly with the heat off. Once the stone has cooled down remove the Stone from the BBQ and gently clean with warm water and a scrub brush to remove any remaining food bits. Store in dry place and NEVER place a wet Stone on the BBQ.Excess moisture could crack the stone, so always heat up dry Stones.
NOTE: No Stone seasoning is needed for cooking stones.
